*Discussion*

The VidMid-VC WG will hold a BoF session during the previously scheduled Internet2 Fall Member Meeting, September 27 – 30, 2004 in Austin, Texas. http://events.internet2.edu/2004/fall-mm/. This is an open working group session for the VidMid-VC group. The goal of this session is to gain consensus on the best way to achieve Federated Secure Internet Conferencing and to further the discussions on developing a "security agent" operating outside of any multimedia protocols.

The group discussed NIST’s VoIP security developer’s interest in the WG’s efforts. The developers will be invited to participate in a future call.

PIC Demonstration Discussion - The group mentioned several issues surrounding the PIC demonstration tentatively planned for the Fall I2MM. The group would like to gain a better understanding of UT-Austin’s WiFi authentication architecture, and to arrange the set up of an LDAP directory. Other questions to answer are: How is the SIPIdentitySIPURI constructed? And, how will we handle members registering at the last minute on site?

The group discussed a bid package, comprising specification and functionality recommendations, and its potential use in unifying universities’ IT efforts with regards to RFI’s and RFP’s. The group will determine a strategy to publish the bid package. The group will determine an outreach and education strategy and supply example language for RFP’s and RFI’s. The group discussed developing a web page to convey this information to interested parties.

Due to the fact that September 6 is a US holiday (Labor Day), the next call will be Monday, September 20, 2004 at 11:00AM ET.
