VidMid, the video working group of the Internet2 Middleware Initiative,
exists to further the development of middleware for digital video and related
areas. The working group was formed by the Internet2 Middleware Initiative
and ViDe, the Video Development
Initiative; ViDe members provide much of the leadership for the group. VidMid
will initially focus on resource discovery and authentication for point-to-point
and multi-point videoconferencing, and similar middleware requirements for
video on demand, data collaboration, and voice over IP. Most of VidMid's
work takes place in the VidMid-VC
(videoconferencing) and VidMid-VoD (video on demand) subgroups. VidMid seeks
to partner with other efforts and working groups that share similar interests.
