The Signet product and project are no longer being supported by the Internet2 Middleware Initiative and MACE. As a result, there will be no further conference calls or other development activities.

The Signet resources at Internet2 that will remain for some amount of time include:

• the code in the CVS repository, and access to the repository by commiters;
• the Signet-Dev and Signet-Users mailing lists;
• the Signet project web and wiki pages.

These resources will remain for now, until some new arrangement is made for the project. If anyone in the community is interested in keeping the project going, Internet2 is open to working with them on making a transition to some new stable situation. Please contact us if you are interested in discussing this.

Many people are interested in continuing to work on architecture and code for authorization and privilege management. MACE is working on a new venue for that, and hopes to get that rolling shortly. As was shown by a recent survey and recent discussions on Signet-Dev calls, campuses have a lot of requirements and interest in taking a fresh look at things. We're excited about making that happen, and will publicize plans via this website and the Signet mailing lists.
