About Signet
Rev. 9-Feb-2006
Why is Signet Open Source?
The Signet product is an open-source project, owing
its success to the initiative of those contributing
to its development. Signet is adapted from the Stanford
Authority Manager, and Signet's design has evolved
since mid-2004 until the present – and will continue
to adapt to the needs of the Higher Ed community.
While Signet has progressed to a level adequate for
production use, the project will continue to benefit
from contributions of the users. Any changes and improvements
will be a direct result of collaborations between the
user-base and the developers. Your continued support
of Signet will further enhance the efforts to date.
Thanks!
The Signet team would like to thank all who have contributed
to the development of Signet; in particular, the (MACE)
Signet Working Group members and those at Stanford
University who have contributed their time, expertise,
and enthusiasm for this project: Lynn McRae (Signet
Working Group chair, project lead), Andy Cohen, Minh
Nguyen, and Jennifer Vine; also Jessica Bibbee,
Nate Klingenstein, Renee Frost, Ann West, and Steve
Olshansky from Internet2.
Development of this software was supported with funding
