Once the survey is finalized, then it will be converted to a PHP web form. E-mail auto-reply was also discussed as a survey method.

The purpose and general design of the domain model is to provide a high level, yet structured, UML diagram of the mailing list domain model including mailing list software applications. As a subset of a business object model, this domain model attempts to define the functions, data and relationships of mailing list software to middleware efforts. Some integrated functions are:

- List Management;
- Sending Rule Manager;
- Queue Rule Manager; and,
- View/Archive

Each function/service may or may not integrate with middleware efforts. Separating the functions/services of list management software will help identify the amount of data-sharing that could or should be achieved through middleware. The domain model is posted on the WG’s website under the “Draft Documents” section. The group encourages comments about the domain model be posted to the list. The group seeks further clarification of middleware integration points and list functions/services that are middleware enabled.

Summary of issues of Shibboleth/Sympa implementation Sympa’s database key identifier is an e-mail address. Changing this would require rewriting the entire system to use a different database key. Enabling an identifier to associate with several e-mail addresses is planned for a future Sympa development. Sympa developers would like to provide a Sympa workshop as part of the Internet2 Fall member’s Meeting September 27 – 30, 2004 in Austin, Texas. For more information see http://events.internet2.edu/2004/fall-mm/.

Survey drafts will be kept on the WG’s website for comment, under the “Draft Documents” section.

The next call is Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 12:00PM ET.
