The group will hold a workshop at the I2MM with Sympa developers on Sunday, September 26 from 1:00PM – 5:00PM. The workshop description follows:

An Open Source, Middleware-enabled mailing list server.

This will be an opportunity to meet with international colleagues who are developers of the open source Sympa mailing list software. This workshop will describe Sympa's features, focusing on its ability to use directories, digital signatures, Shibboleth, and other advanced features. This workshop is open to everyone registered for the Internet2 member meeting, at no additional charge.

The MList working group is seeking individuals from American higher education institutions with experience using Sympa to attend the workshop.

The group will hold a BoF session at the I2FMM on Sunday, September 26 from 7:00PM – 9:00PM. This will be a joint MList/SALSA general discussion on how to reduce spam and increase e-mail security, including server authn approaches such as SenderID. Other topics of discussion will include how mailing list managers process mail from servers adhering to SenderID or related protocols.

The group will hold a panel discussion at the I2MM on Wednesday, September 29 from 1:00PM – 2:30PM in conjunction with the Internet2 Integrated Infrastructure for Instant Messaging (I2IM) WG. The panel discussion, entitled Middleware Enabled Collaborative Applications, will include a discussion about the NMI grant and related efforts. The workshop will provide a discussion about persistent anonymous identifiers and mailing list management of personal groups within VO’s for collaboration.

Survey update: Beta universities for the VO survey have been identified. The survey will be provided to them soon. Both the mailing list manager and VO surveys will be sent out in the middle of September. A follow up will be sent in the middle of October. The goal is to have survey completed by October 31, 2004.
