*Discussion*

Intellectual Property Reminder:
The Internet2 intellectual property statement can be found here: http://members.internet2.edu/intellectualproperty.html

It was agreed that discussion of the Sympa RPM will move to the sympa-dev list, in order to include the Sympa developer community more effectively.

Minutes from the last meeting were approved.

The group considered the question of whether the group should have a role in aiding dialogues between mailing list developers and the Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM) IETF pre-working group. This question, which is still open, has potential impact to the objectives of the MLIST working group. DKIM is an emerging IETF draft technology that uses DNS to distribute public keys, for end-to-end identity validation of messages. One concern is that, currently, the mailing list and DKIM don't interoperate; the mailing list breaks (alters) DKIM signatures. As an initial step, [AI] {Jill and Serge} will draft a letter to MACE stating why it would be beneficial for mailing list representatives to dialog with the DKIM group with respect to mailing list requirements. The letter will be sent to the list for feedback prior to being sent to MACE.

The document "Middleware Integration with Existing Applications: Current Design Issues, with a Focus on Mailing Lists" was approved and moved to a final status. It will be included in upcoming NMI Release 8.

The group reviewed action items from the last meeting. The discussion of Perl modules has moved to the sympa-dev list, and Sympa RPM/Fedora Core documentation has been posted to the website. The VO survey action item will be moved to the next call's agenda. [AI] {Jill} will invite Ann West and George Brett to attend the next meeting or to otherwise provide feedback, regarding their interest in a collaboration tool survey. Jill and Steve have posted slides for the group to review, entitled "VO Collaboration Requirements". These can be found under the Draft Documents section of the Internet2 MLIST site, or by following this link: http://middleware.internet2.edu/mlist/docs/2005_VO_collaboration_requirements.pdf

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 26. Agenda and bridge will be posted to this list.
