*Action Items*

New: [AI] {Serge} will send a note to this list detailing the features being requested/added, and a general update on the new release.

[AI] {Group} will forward DKIM/MLM reference pointers to the list.

[AI] {Serge} will summarize DKIM issues related to MLMs and send to the list.

[AI] {Jill, SteveO} will work with {Serge} to coordinate a call with DKIM and MLM developers.

[AI] {Jill} will contact RLBob about relevant DKIM IETF contacts. [AI] {Paul} will contact LSoft developers about this (DKIM/MLM) call when we have it more defined.

Carry Over:

[AI] {Sympa developers} will incorporate Shibboleth-enabled patch in their next release and {Craig} will update the Sympa RPM with the patch, once it is available.

[AI] {Craig} will make source RPM available for Sympa on Fedora Core.

[AI] {Craig} will send Steve text to add to the web page noting assumptions in RPMs and tested platforms.

[AI] {George} will draft a paragraph describing a proposed survey of work collaboration tools currently used in the Internet2 community, with a focus on middleware-enabling them. {George} will send this description to others interested in developing the survey and find out if the Wednesday conference call time is a good time for them to meet.

*Discussion*

- Sympa update There has been interest expressed by the French National Police agency, which has selected Sympa for its internal use, asking the Sympa developers to introduce new features. [AI] Serge will send a note to this list detailing the features being requested/added, and a general update on the new release.

The patch contributed by John-Paul to Shibboleth-enable Sympa is being incorporated into the next release - date TBD.

Serge will be writing an article for Linux Journal magazine about Sympa, to make it more well known to the US audience. The article will introduce Sympa, and will mention the working group and the RPMs Craig Hancock has created.

A question was raised about Sympa support for Debian Linux. There is currently a Debian package, but it is a bit old at this point. Serge has heard that an updated Debian package is forthcoming from a third-party contributor, perhaps in a few weeks. Q: Will this new package include the Shibboleth-support patch? Not yet... That patch will be part of the normal Sympa release upcoming, and presumably included in a Debian package at a later time. However a Debian user could apply that patch, or any other, if they install from the source distribution instead of using the package.

- Next steps (recharter?) of the Working Group

DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail) standards are still in their early stages of development, and opinions were expressed that it thus might be more effective for us to participate in the IETF process directly rather than trying to do something on our own - or at least to be sure that our work is complementary and not duplicative. There appears to be recognition within the DKIM WG that mailing lists are important to consider as they proceed. It would be good for MLM developers to participate, however it was noted that the list is very high traffic and it requires a significant investment of time to stay current.

There was discussion about the possibility of convening a meeting of MLM developers, as a level-set and to coordinate approaches. If key DKIM participants were present at a meeting like this it would be useful... This meeting would not need to be face-to-face to start with, conference calls would make more sense logistically. We could perhaps invite them to join this call at some point in the near future, as a starting point. [AI] Jill and SteveO will work with Serge to coordinate a call with DKIM and MLM developers. [AI] Jill will contact RLBob about relevant IETF contacts. [AI] {Paul} will contact LSoft developers about this meeting when we have it more defined.

A question was raised about reference materials, to help some of our participants to come up to speed on the issues involved with DKIM/MLMs, beyond the obvious IETF DKIM mailing list? Neal offered to send some notes to the list. Suggestions from others are welcome, please direct them to the WG list. [AI] {Group} will forward DKIM/MLM notes and/or reference pointers to the list.

Next call is in 2 weeks: Wed 1-Mar-06 11:00 EST (GMT-5)
