*Discussion*
The next step is to tease out requirements from the scenarios and prioritize them. Michael Gettes and Keith Hazelton have agreed to participate in the requirements extraction process. Bill Gordon volunteered to work on scenario 3 and Dave Damassa, Jere Retzer, and Jack Buchanan have also volunteered to help on a time permitting basis. Once requirements are identified they need to be evaluated in light of existing activities in the middleware space to see if there are efforts that could be useful for MedMid. Other participants are welcome as well. A conference call will be set up specifically to discuss requirement extractions.
Tamara O'Brien mentioned to the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) as a possible source we might want to consider for a typical scenario from the public health domain. More information on NEDSS can be found at: http://www.cdc.gov/nedss/.
OpenEMed, which links emergency rooms in New Mexico, was also mentioned as a source worth examining for possible overlaps and ideas. Information is available at http://openemed.org/ and http://tmed.openemed.net/OpenEMed/TeleMed/
Mary provided an update on the fall member meeting. There are currently more sessions there are slots to schedule them. One proposal is have a joint session with the middleware track. Since several top experts are coming in to discuss architecture there is a desire to avoid holding the session at an off time such as an evening or lunch. This is still being worked on.
There is also another session planned where Personal Internetworked Notary and Guardian (PING) and Patient Centered Access to Secure Systems Online (PCASSO) will be discussed. Middleware participants may find this session helpful to attend. More information on PING can be found at: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/research/ngisumphase2.html. For PCASSO visit: http://medicine.ucsd.edu/pcasso/.
The new MedMid web page is ready and will be posted at: http://middleware.internet2.edu/medmid/
The next conference call is August 22, 2002.
