University of Cincinnati/AAMC project update:
There was phone call with Shibboleth team. U. Cincinnati uses only Microsoft platforms and Shibboleth has not yet been ported to Microsoft. There are two Microsoft ports in process, one for Apache and the other for Microsoft IIS. The port will likely be ready by early Summer. The Cincinnati project is phased and phase four, where Shibboleth will be needed, is projected for August.

Harvard - there was some discussion about the infrastructure, in the context of potential middleware deployment in the future.

There are two main medical practice groups at Harvard, Partners and Care Group.

Physicians are generally in one group or the other, there is not much sharing of providers with the exception of some specialty hospitals. Partners does have an LDAP directory. Harvard as a whole likely doesn't have one enterprise-wide directory because there are so many sub-entities. Partners uses mainly Microsoft servers and desktops though there are also some Mac and Linux desktops as well. Partners would be open to having a Linux server. Care Group is more Microsoft focused. Usage elsewhere at Harvard would depend on the sub-entity.

HIPAA update
At Harvard, there are a lot of system wide announcements and reminders and preparedness training. Paul has a sense that many institutions are concerned but won't be ready by the deadline. It may be the case that HIPAA enforcement will be delayed, especially if an institution can show they've tried to comply.
