Internet2 Spring Member Meeting: The time for a MedMid session has not yet been set. Options might be Tuesday afternoon or a lunch session. It would be best for MedMid to be all together in a panel if possible. If no other option is possible an informal evening session could be held. Another consideration is the mix of attendees. If the attendees are mostly new participants then it will be a good opportunity to use the session as an introduction to MedMid. When the session is scheduled information will be forwarded to the list.
There will be a meeting in D.C. next week focusing on efforts to convert the
VA's medical system to an open source patient records system. Information is
available at: http://worldvista.org.
[AI]Jack will forward details on the meeting to the list.
MedMid Scenarios: Feedback, suggestions, and additional scenarios welcome, please send any comments to the list. The consensus was that the scenarios were in good shape and the next logical step is to document the pilot's requirements in a similar format and greater detail since more information will be available. If anybody spot requirements that need refinement or that that need to be addressed please let Steve know.
HIPAA update: The HIPPA security standard is now out. There's a general sense
that people are moving from "I didn't think I'd be affected by this"
to "how do we comply with it?" U. Cincinnati has three courses relating
to HIPAA in their Shibboleth pilot program. One course, an introduction to HIPAA
basic principles such as what is a patient record and protected health information,
is up and running, the other two are in testing.
[AI] Bill will provide project contact information to Keith and Jere.
There is a call planned for next week with Barry Ribbeck and the UT Health Science Centers to talk about PKI integration for Shib.
The central IT organization at U. Wisconsin has been invited to put together a proposal about security related services they could offer for health care and other divisions at U. Wisconsin. It is being driven by requests from a large number of organizations requesting funding for HIPAA security. Jack noted the same sort of thing is happening at U. Tennessee.
Next call is scheduled for Thursday March 3, 2003.
[AI] Bill will provide project contact information to Keith and Jere.
[AI]Jack will forward details on the D.C. meeting to the list.
