MedMid Session at the Internet2 Fall Member Meeting
Keith Hazelton has a conflict and can't attend the MedMid session. Steve is
trying to coordinate with Michael Gettes to speak about Shibboleth.
Barry will talk about the auth method they're looking at UT-HSCH. It's not quite a proxy service but a way to use a Shibboleth server to front end a number of different pre-written applications that are already across campus. They are still in the design phase. The mechanism can be added to any web page to authenticate via LDAP or digital id. They want to add a Shib auth method as an additional authentication possibility.
Dave is planning on talking about their pilot with New York Medical College and TUSK. He may also talk about Fedora, TUFTS digital library installation. They're considering TUSK for their backend and are thinking about incorporating Shib.
Bill will talk about the U. Cincinnati trial and how he sees Shib plugging into it. They are hoping to Shibbolize the application by the end of the year.
Keith provided an update that Wisconsin is starting internal discussions on participating in the U. Cincinnati trial.
UT-Galveston has received a grant to do a level four biological facility, which makes them eligible for bio-terrorism research. The information would be available to participants that authenticate from all over the country, with a number of sites in Texas. They may utilize Shibboleth as the authentication authorization transport mechanism and possibly create a Texas federation to manage the sites in Texas. That federation would have to have an LOA that was acceptable to the federal agencies involved, with a high bar of trust. The University of Tennessee Memphis, in affiliation with Duke, received the grant as well.
Jack is planning giving a brief report on the current status of electronic health records. Ken Rubin, a previous speaker, might be able to attend the session. If he can he would be able to talk about electronic health records as well.
Shib 2.0 is in the planning stages and scheduled for next year. Planned features
have been circulated on the Shib pilot list for feedback.
