*Discussion*
University of Cincinnati Continuing Medical Education (CME) project update - The project comprises implementation of a single login process for all web applications. Stage I includes a basic username/password authentication web service, a subsequent Shib application and registration through self- lookup of AAMC identifier. Stage II encompasses implementation of bio safety level-3 training. Currently, 12 physicians eligible for CME credits are utilizing this system. Physicians can register and receive transcript credits through the program. The AAMC identifier lookup site is desirable for the University of Cincinnati program. And, a server-to-server application is ideal for AAMC identifier-lookup, if available in the future. Implementation of all stages will proceed once architecture issues are resolved. For more information see: http://cme.uc.edu/
Tufts planned Shib installation project update - Development of use cases for the knowledge management system including identity management and digital rights management has begun. The Shib target will be implemented soon with the origin implementation to occur in two months. The origin requires work on LDAP and some reallocation of resources. Version 2 of Fedora digital library uses Shib.
A Birds of a Feather (BoF) working session is scheduled for Tuesday April 20, 4:30 – 6:00, Spring Internet2 Member Meeting. Meeting details are available at http://events.internet2.edu/2004/spring-mm/. The BoF focuses on the uses of Shibboleth and related middleware for enabling secure access to restricted resources, and enabling secure interactions between disparate systems in Academic Medical environments. Individuals may attend the BoF session only without registering for the Spring Member Meeting, if desired. Contact SteveO if interested ASAP.
Representatives from the VHA will attend to provide feedback about Internet2 initiatives including MedMid initiatives and Shib. Other initiatives include E-government initiatives to make military medical records compatible with civilian records. And, E-authentication guidelines from NIST joined with incommon federation work.
