The HHS ONCHIT RFI Report and RFPs have been submitted and can be found at http://www.hhs.gov/healthit/rfisummaryreport.pdf or www.hhs.gov/healthit. The RFP focused on privacy and security is of interest. Due to the comprehensive nature of the work outlined in the RFPs, it appears that either large corporations or consortia will have the resources to respond.

The Federal Government E-Authentication initiative is progressing, and may bear on potential solutions for controlling access to resources in the medical arena, among others. The next release of the Shibboleth software (v1.3, expected soon) will include a plug-in which has been tested and approved as E-Auth compatible. For more information please see www.cio.gov/eauthentication.

The fall 2005 Internet2 Member Meeting will be held September 19 – 22, 2005 in Philadelphia. For more information please see: http://events.internet2.edu/2005/fall-mm/
