*Discussion*
Keith Hazelton talked about interest at the University of Wisconsin medical
school in participating in the U. Cincinnati trial for the blood borne pathogens
training module. There is also interest from the Health Alert Network in Wisconsin,
which is a university sponsored state level project. One concern for the Wisconsin
project is they don’t have roles based criteria for qualifying participants.
They’ve got around 2000 accounts and 15-16 people logged in at any given
time. They would target whom they would promote the training to. There is also
interest in continuing medical education (CME) credit courses, which the trial
already supports.
It was asked if CME credits are accepted universally in all states. No one knew the definitive answer. Bill Gordon did relay that for the CME category that involves an M.D. reading a journal article and answering questions to get the credit is accepted in all states. There is a request in for an enhancement to the trial to generate some kind of documentation that supports the CME credit being granted. For CME there is a registration fee, by credit card, of $10 - $20. Currently the blood born pathogens training is free as part of the trial.
The timeline for next steps with the U. Cincinnati trial is currently dependent on timing for another project being finalized.
Kirk will check internally to see if a demonstration of how the lookup would work can be put together by the next MedMid call. They are interested in the statistics on how many people try to retrieve the identifier, how many are successful, etc.
The next call will be December 11th 2003.
