The University of Wisconsin is going to be an origin for the online courseware
pilot project with the University of Cincinnati. The University of Wisconsin’s
team that will install the origin and the target for Shibboleth 1.2 has been

Public Health Information Network (PHIN) has expressed interest in this for
continuing education.
*Discussion*
The scenarios and use cases on the WG’s web site are over a year old.
The group will consider new scenarios and use cases at this time.
The University of Tennessee – Memphis received an RFP from the National
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.CDC.gov). for a data analysis
and transmission contract using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey
(NHANES) data for bone density scans. This data is currently stored and transmitted
using CD-ROM. The desire is to store and transmit this anonomyzed data electronically.
The University of Tennessee – Memphis is also considering participation
in a task force for data sharing with AAMC and VA. The AAMC and VA have agreed
to collaborate on information exchange pilot project to share data using common
standards. A phase of the process will include the electronic health record
and health information exchange used for either care delivery or research. This
collaboration is intended to achieve a consistent and authorized method of connecting
medical schools and VA medical centers’ health information systems in
a secure manner that will support the appropriate level of bi-directional sharing
of information. Thus far, four pilot locations have been determined: Lexington
VA and University of Kentucky, Palo Alto VA and Stanford University, New Orleans
VA and LSU at New Orleans, and Shreveport VA and LSU at Shreveport.
The University of Texas Systems Office for Technology and Information’s strategic leadership council issued a statement of direction with regard to the use of Shibboleth and directory technologies as defined by NMI, Internet2 and EDUCAUSE for collaborative use within the UT system.
The University of Texas held an LDAP workshop for individuals responsible for managing directory sites. At this workshop it was recommended that all UT institutions send a representative to the Shibboleth Implementation Workshop, June 28 – 30 in Broomfield, CO. Case studies will be developed after the workshop. The future web application for this effort manages all of the source system for payroll and evaluations for residents. Baylor has expressed interest in having UT assist them in implementing a Shibboleth origin. UT will develop a JAVA method for Shibboleth authentication and authorization into their three-tier web application. The UT Medical Branch in Galveston is also interested in Shibboleth for enterprise directory services. Nursing students from UT-Galveston will be able to take online class from UT-Houston. The policies for this project have been developed. UT-Dallas has over 100 students in the School of Public Health wanting to take classes from UT-Houston’s School of Public Health. Thus, creating another potential Shibboleth installation project.
The call schedule has been changed to the 2nd Thursday of every month at 2:00 EDT. The next call will be July 8, 2004 at 2:00PM EDT.
