*Discussion*
John is interested in experiences anyone has designing questions to collect information on what institutions do and issues they encounter in transitioning to a institutional directory architecture. Any documentation on how to create questions would be welcome. The concern is how to gather useful data from people who may not be familiar with directory concepts. He expects that they will be able to get responses from 30-50 universities in the UK. The challenge will be to design questions that will produce the right kind of information.
Keith asked if they have experimented with ways of systematically comparing schema? There is great interest in methods and tools to do this.
John indicated that the issue is clashes between eduPerson and active directory is elements that Microsoft defines for itself that are not quite LDAP. Someone at LSE is working in a mapping of those elements.
[AI] John will provide a summary of the Microsoft element mappings.
Call Scheduling
If call participants are amenable, call time will be moved to one hour later.
[AI] Jeanette will check with regular call participants to see if the new call time works for everyone.
Next steps will focus around co-coordinating a directory of national projects
and who might participate in creating it.
