MACE-Dir Uniform Resource Name (URN) Registry
The MACE-Dir Working Group administers a Uniform Resource Name (URN)
namespace, supporting the assignment of unique, global, persistent names
to directory-related resources of various kinds. The Namespace Identifier
(NID) of the namespace is "urn:mace:dir".
All namespaces under urn:mace:dir are managed by the MACE-Dir WG. They
are not delegated for management by other organizations. See the MACE URN registry for information
about delegated namespaces.
Questions and discussion about registrations under urn:mace:dir, including
suggestions for new registrations, should be directed to the mace-dir
mailing list, mace-dir@internet2.edu.
Registries in urn:mace:dir
attribute-def
The attribute-def registry defines URNs for "attribute definitions".
In general these are direct mappings of "attribute types" as used in schema
definitions for X.500-based directories (including LDAP directories).
The registry can in principal accomodate other attribute definitions also,
both X.500/LDAP-based attributes from other schema, and non-X.500/LDAP-based
attribute definitions.
entitlement
The entitlement registry defines URNs for values of
the eduPersonEntitlement attribute (see eduPerson
(200604) for details). These values are generally
used to indicate the entitlement of a subject to access
a resource. This registry is appropriate for defining "global" values
that are intended to be useful to the MACE-Dir community.
Since any URI can be an entitlement value, values for
use by other communities or for specific purposes can
be defined and documented by anyone (that is, they need
not be registered here).
