**New Action Items**
[A] (All) Volunteers for working on the survey about managing people entries, attributes, and affiliations from non-authoritative sources, please edit the working draft in the wiki
(Linked from https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/macedir/MACE-Dir+Working+Group+Space)
[AI] (SteveO) will send mail to the MACE-Dir, REFEDs, MACE, Middleware-Announce, requesting input on the survey about managing people entries, attributes, and affiliations from non-authoritative sources, with the goal of finalizing it before the next call.
[AI] (Keith) will write up the current state of the identifier discussion and apparent consensus, and associated explanatory material, for use by REFEDs.
[AI] (Keith) will edit the previous versions of the SAML Attribute Profiles documents to note that they have been superseded by a newer version.
[AI] (Keith) will send mail to the list to revive the discussion on "Attributes for appointments, term data, courses, etc."
[AI] (Ann and TomB) will work on a joint call with the Educause IdM group steering committee, to discuss synergies.
**Carryover Action Items**
[AI] (Keith) will take a first pass at revving http://middleware.internet2.edu/dir/docs/internet2-mace-dir-ldap-group-membership-200507.html in the wiki, then run it by the group for comment, with the goal of perhaps finalizing it in the near future.
[AI] (Brendan) will poll the mailing list for feedback on the use of name fields, and whether they have had the need to extend eduPerson locally with additional name fields.
[AI] (RL "Bob") will query the REFEDs list about whether identifier reassignability is an issue for them esp. in grid environments.
**Discussion**
1. MACE-Dir thread "refs to MACE-Dir SAML Attribute Profiles doc"
Per consensus on the call, we will create a HTML version of the latest rev, to make it more accessible, and note the deprecated status on previous versions with pointers to the latest rev.
[AI] (Keith) will edit the previous versions of the SAML Attribute Profiles documents to note that they have been superseded by a newer version.
2. Thread "Proposed eduPersonTargetedID text changes" messages dated 29-Jan & 3-Feb (latter w full text)
- Review Scott Cantor's V3 version
- Current state of the identifier discussion and apparent consensus
This was approved by those on the call. The intent is to update the eduPerson spec to include this changed text.
[AI] (Keith) will send a last call note to the mailing list with a one week window for final comments.
3. Thread "Persistent identifiers in education"
If there is a need for a unique not-reassignable persistent identifier, MACE-Dir provisionally recommends the use of EPTID. It was noted that this really is or ought to be a federation policy issue, and thus it would make sense to take this up on the REFEDs list (fits with the carryover AI for Keith above).
It was suggested that it would be useful to discuss this at the upcoming Spring Internet2 Member Meeting in DC, and try to loop in relevant government players as much as practical.
Given the import and impact of this, it was proposed that we wait until the next call to approve this, and in the interim solicit input from the international community.
4. Soliciting content for "Identifier Use Cases with Solutions"
https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/macedir/Identifier+Use+Cases+with+Solutions
There is a need for use cases to focus this discussion. Examples might include a variety of circumstances in which there might be reasons for users to be well known to each other. There is no a priori correct answer to who should issue or manage credentials, this seems to be context-specific depending upon the requirements at hand.
It was noted that the Educause IdM group is becoming more focused on developing use cases, and that list would be a natural forum for this discussion as well.
5. Thread "Attributes for appointments, term data, courses, etc."
[AI] (Keith) will send mail to the list to revive the discussion on "Attributes for appointments, term data, courses, etc."
