*Discussion*

The two agenda items were the Fall 2005 Member Meeting and reviewing updates to the Higher Education Person (HEP) draft, sent to the list 29-August by Brendan Bellina..

Internet2 Fall Member Meeting:

The group discussed questions about the upcoming fall member meeting, in Philadelphia September 19-22.  The Directory workgroup session will be first thing Monday morning, followed by the Metadirectory workgroup session, so people planning to attend these sessions should arrive Sunday.

A draft schedule of all Middleware-related working group sessions will be sent out to the list this week.  The sessions can also be viewed by going to the Fall 2005 member meeting page on the Internet2 website, then following the Program link on the side bar.  Individual topics on the Program page have links to content which can help when planning which sessions to attend.

What is to be accomplished in the Metadirectories BoF vs. track session?  It was determined that the BoF could be used to draft a statement of work which could then be used as a proposal to MACE.  [AI] {Tom} will contact Walter Hoehn and Roland Hedberg to discuss the scoping of work that may be appropriate for the Internet2 Middleware Initiative (I2MI) to take on, in the areas of metadirectories and provisioning.

What would be accomplished in the Directories BoF?  Discussion included the possibility of reporting on Brendan's work (HEP), the TERENA SChema Harmonization Committee Project (SCHAC), usPerson, or related activity in Asia.  These details will be ironed out in direct calls among the presenters. For info on SCHAC, see
     http://www.terena.nl/tech/task-forces/tf-emc2/schac.html.

Will there be any activities on Sunday of the member meeting?  The Working Architects Group (WAG) will hold a closed meeting on Sunday afternoon. Sunday evening there will be a dinner meeting discussing the plans for documentation and outreach for Grouper and Signet, similar to what is being done for Shibboleth in terms of strengthening brand, creating the appropriate documentation, developing web content oriented for a more general audience, and so forth.

Higher EduPerson (HEP) Draft:

Brendan sought the group's feedback for sections 6.7 through 6.11 of latest draft of the HEP.  The group gave feedback on sections 6.7 (Security Attributes and Keys) and 6.8 (Confidentiality and Attribute Release). Discussion centered around definitions in the 6.8 overview.  The material is timely for a number of locations with implementations in progress. Remaining sections were not reviewed during the call due to time limitations.

[AI] {Group} will review Brendan's Higher Education Person draft, and direct comments to the list.

AI] {SteveO and Brendan} will work offline to get the latest revs of the Higher Education Person draft posted to the WG website.

Next call will be Monday 12-September 4:30 ET. Agenda and phone bridge will go out to this list in advance of the call.
