**Discussion**
1. (RL "Bob") Update on Stanford/NSC
Bob reported that technical testing is under way. Some pilot attribute definitions have been proposed and are being utilized. This is expected to be a topic at the upcoming "CAMP: Delivering, Sourcing, and Securing Services Throughout the Student Identity Life Cycle" in Tempe February 2009.

There is hope that PESC would participate, more on this as it develops.
2. (Brendan) Report on National Information Standards Organization (NISO)-I2 (not Internet2) E-Learning working group: http://www.niso.org/workrooms/i2/
- NISO Institutional Identifiers wg is another group seeking to solve the problem of needed organizational identifiers and associated metadata (and associated management plan) for use with electronic services and published resources.
The intention is to reach at least a preliminary framework by 2Q2009.
It was observed that institutional/organizational identifiers are a key topic of interest to several groups, coming at it from different directions and with different requirements, but potentially converging on somewhat similar solutions.
If we could work to dovetail or otherwise coordinate these efforts it would seem to be a positive step, however it may be that a unified view of the problem is not practical given all of the variables at play. It may make more sense for us to monitor and when/if solutions develop in other forums, leverage them to the extent possible. Brendan will report back on this as events warrant.
