New! Grouper v1.3.0

Background
The Grouper Working Group is a result of the initial efforts of the MACE-Dir-Groups Working Group.

Grouper is an open source toolkit for managing groups. It is designed to function as the core element of a common infrastructure for managing group information across integrated applications and repositories. Grouper combines multiple sources of group information, both automated and manual, in managing memberships and other group information in a Group Registry, a central information asset complementary to a site's Person Registry.

Grouper manages two primary types of objects: groups and naming stems. Groups are created and named within a naming stem. Group management authority can be limited and delegated by naming stem or group, and naming stems may themselves be arranged in a hierarchy.

NEW! Grouper v1.3.0 is the latest version. Changes include:
  • New and experimental Web Services interface
  • Improved user interface
  • New utility for removing memberships for unresolvable subjects
  • Improvement to overall performance

For additional feature listings, tarballs, and documentation for previous releases, please see the Archives in the wiki.

If you'd like to get involved with the Grouper Working Group, please subscribe to the mailing lists.
