*Discussion*
Keith indicated that SAML attributes are on the agenda for the MACE-dir call
later today. The MACE-dir discussion will facilitate the drafting of the Illustrative
XML schema-based representations of eduCourse attributes suitable for use in
the SAML expressions document.
The full suite of SAML 2.0 draft documents can be downloaded from:
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/11045/sstc-saml-2.0-cd-04-pdf-xsd.zip
. When unpacked, the sstc-saml-core-2.0-cd-04.pdf document is the “Core”
and sstc-saml-profiles-2.0-cd-04.pdf is the “Profiles.”
CourseID work plan for 2005
The proposed work plan is:
1. Creating use cases for inter-institutional learning – forwarded one
from Dirk
2. Incorporate Blackboard and WebCT into work
3. Expand the eduCourse data model as driven by items 1 and 2.
Other work can be incorporated as needed.
Keith has forwarded to the CourseID list the IMS Project Team Charter for Tools Interoperability Guidelines, which can help drive thinking about how various attributes can be represented in SAML. How is this distinguished from portal development? What about it is more specific than portals when talking about the types of information that may be available for access control? Where in the process would questions such as “How would I know this person is entitled to access this set of learning materials based on their course associations?” come up?
The next CourseID call is scheduled for Monday February 14th, 2005.
