Keith e-mailed the link for the latest draft of the MACE CourseID document to the e-mail list for comment and follow-up on the next call.
The main changes to the draft are in the usage notes at the end in section 4.
Scott's concern about a mechanism already existing for providing naming authority under urn:mace will be incorporated in the next draft.
It would also be good to incorporate some information about the fact that others may be interested in joining MACE. It would be up to the university, not MACE, to resolve any issues between different divisions of an institution over management of the namespace. Scott indicated that if we did at the domain level then our own MACE records would say who they need to contact. If there is an issue, there is no reason to preclude people from assigning their own URL's to courses that bypass that registration mechanism. It’s the same issue, that you risk conflicting with others, if you start issuing URLS that only have the top level domain in the host name field.
The CourseID draft needs to explain what the implications are and caution people against creating identifiers that they think will be shared in a URL namespace that doesn't have a sufficient amount of uniqueness to it. It should be possible for people to make basic decisions about a sub-domain to assign URL's under is that are not going to collide with the official issuing of course identifiers at that institution.
Keith will add the URL type approach and change the order of the components in the draft.

Renee indicated that Lisa Hogeboom needs a one or two line abstract for the CourseID BoF at the Spring Internet2 Member Meeting.
[AI] Keith will provide Lisa a short description for the Spring Internet2 Member Meeting BoF.
