*Discussion*
Recent meetings:
- Leif was at the Sakai meeting in Amsterdam; he noted that there was much discussion of federations and Shibboleth. Presentations, including Leif's, are at https://sakaiproject.org/conference/admin/schedule.php.
- The Shibboleth CAMP was well-received. There were many newcomers, representing an unusually broad range of institutions, community colleges in particular. Bob noted that there was strong interest among the attendees in a "multi-day install-fest event"; Steve Carmody has identified a possible host for this fall. Presentations from Shibboleth CAMP are at http://www.educause.edu/Proceedings/12960.
- Discussion at Advanced CAMP was less focused but also fruitful. Bob noted discussions of Kuali Rice (http://rice.kuali.org/) and
Project Minerva (http://wikis.mit.edu/confluence/display/ZEST/Project+Minerva) in particular. Grouper was also much discussed, providing good input for further improvement; Steve Carmody noted that Brown is doing a limited rollout of Grouper for the fall semester. It's becoming increasingly clear that it would be useful for MACE to develop more of a focus on architecting, testing, demonstrating, and evangelizing middleware for collaborative applications; [AI] Bob will organize a conference call to get mace-collab-core off the ground. Presentations from Advanced CAMP are at
http://www.educause.edu/Proceedings/12995.
- Bob noted that the InfoCard interoperability session at Catalyst went well. [AI] Bob will see if the OSIS site has posted any information from the InfoCard interop session at Catalyst.
There was also a discussion of various possibilities for outreach, education, and training. [AI] Bob will talk to Vinay Kumar about possible roles for 9Star in supporting MACE-ware. [AI] Bob will put outreach and education high on the agenda for the July 23 MACE call; all will review the "Outreach and Education Discussion" thread on the MACE list ahead of that call.
