**Discussion**
- the MACE brand and mission, and place in the ecosystem
There was a wide-ranging discussion of this topic, beginning with the history of MACE, and including an environmental scan (e.g. Jasig and Kuali) for context.
The suggestion was made to continue this discussion on the next call, and further to consider extending future calls to 90 minutes to ensure sufficient time for discussion.

**Discussion**
- Eduroam
There are signs of renewed energy around Eduroam in the US, which led to a recent meeting attended by representatives from ~30 campuses. More to come on this as available. The question arose as to how this could or should align with Educause, InCommon, and/or Interneyt2. The answer is not clear...
[AI] (Jens) will speak to an Eduroam rep about communicating with Educause.
- The MACE brand and mission, and place in the ecosystem
MACE primarily serves 2 roles: as an international gathering forum for identity management architects, and as an advisory mechanism for the Internet2 middleware work.
One ambiguity is the term "advisory" and the second is how MACE relates to AMSAC in advising Internet2. The forthcoming InCommon executive director will have the middleware work in his/her portfolio, and this is a factor to be considered as well.
There was a proposal to focus next MACE call 7-December on this topic alone, to ensure adequate time for discussion. It was suggested that future discussion about this involve other leaders of relevant higher-ed groups.
