**Recent meetings**
- ITANA
June 18, 2008, Minneapolis MN
http://www.itana.org/
It was at capacity (41), and well received by the participants. Presentations are online.

There is some discussion of continuing these meetings at least annually, perhaps under the CAMP umbrella. More on this as it develops.

- Advanced CAMP: Registering, Discovering, and Using Distributed Services in Academia
June 19-20, 2008, Minneapolis MN

Merge of ESB and Service Registry was the focus. Presentations are online.

This was a good meeting, and well received by the participants. Microsoft and IBM were in attendance, as were representatives of Project Bamboo and SEASR.

* Upcoming Meetings*
- Catalyst
June 23-27, 2008, San Diego CA

Scotty and RL "Bob" will be attending…

AACRAO+IdM
July 9-10, 2008, Baltimore
http://www.aacrao.org/identity/

Registration is at capacity. The program is essentially complete, speakers have been identified, and work is beginning on a whitepaper to be distributed in advance addressing issues in IdM for registrars. Asserting enrollment verification (aka "student-ness") for various external SPs was suggested as a common pain point and thus potential topic for inclusion.

- TF-EMC2+Mobility
July 9-10, 2008, Umeå, Sweden

Planning for follow-up to the EMC2 group which is completing its original charter will be taken up at the meeting.

**Discussion**

- NIH organization attribute
There has been recent discussion among InCommon participants and the MACE-Dir working group about NIH’s requirements for attributes representing affiliation beyond campus, e.g. departments or institutes. Work on this is continuing, and will likely involve research administrators as well.

NIH is only expecting the top level name of the institutions initially, but later may reflect back their internal values about affiliation which may affect intracampus integration issues. Ultimately improving the business processes is the goal, as it relates to grant administration.

- Privilege management survey in Signet WG
There is a survey being developed, led by Duke, the goal of which is to assess requirements for authorization/privilege management among higher ed. This will be a gap analysis as it relates to the Signet project. ETA is 2 months for completion of the survey and distillation of the results.

It will be developed in the Signet wiki, for community input.

- Federations and Liberty Alliance
REFEDS has been holding some conversations about where this activity should be homed. General interfederation issues will be taken up by a new Liberty Alliance SIG. Issues specific to R&E, e.g. attribute alignment and promotion of new R&E federations, will likely be homed within TERENA and supported by existing federations for the first year.

It was noted that some national federations have no relationship to national NRENs, thus there are issues of coordination that need to be addressed going forward.

- Internet2 Governance update
The strategic plan is considered done and will be distributed to the community very soon, and will be taken up at the next board meeting in early July. Tactical planning is anticipated to begin soon, following the approval of the strategic plan by the board.

- Au CA and server certs
Still in early stages, more on this as it develops.

- COmanage and friends/competitors/alternatives, interop etc
Work continues at Stanford. There has been discussion of possible applications of COmanage within GEANT, more on this as it develops.

- CAS/uPortal/JA-SIG/Kuali/KIM engagements
There have been discussions with the Kuali IdM (KIM) group, led by Tom. There is at least one campus looking at deploying KIM along with Grouper, and possibly Signet as well. More clearly defined interfaces for plugging in external IdM-related services are hoped for ongoing. Kuali Financials and Kuali Research Administration are likely early targets for integration.

KIM will likely be a buffer between the core Kuali apps and external IdM services as it develops, but this is not there just yet.

The CAS and Shibboleth projects have had some discussions about future respective future work to avoid duplication of effort.

- Invitation problem redux
This issue has arisen within COmanage, in the sense that Stanford is looking at integrating or linking some of their existing invitation/guest management system.

There was a suggestion to explore the invitation problem in a BoF, perhaps within JA-SIG, Sakai, or the next Internet2 Member Meeting. Ideally this would include end-users in addition to application developers.

- MACE membership
Renee Shuey from Penn State, who has been very active in many MACE-related projects for a long time, will be joining MACE. We extend a sincere and enthusiastic welcome to her.
