*Discussion*
The group reviewed the Fifth Annual PKI R&D Workshop (PKI06; see http://middleware.internet2.edu/pki06/proceedings/). Turnout for PKI06 was the highest yet; planning for PKI07 is underway.
Other PKI items:
- Neal noted that OpenSSL FIPS 140-2 validation is now final; see http://oss-institute.org/OpenSSL/Linux_World_release_040406.pdf.
- Jim noted that the name for the initial USHER service has been changed from "USHER-Foundation" to just "USHER". Watch http://usher.internet2.edu/ for more USHER news in the coming weeks.
Upcoming meetings:
- Middleware sessions at the April 24-26 Internet2 Member Meeting are at http://events.internet2.edu/2006/spring-mm/agenda.cfm?event=242&track=56.
- The second Internet Identity Workshop will be May 1-3 in Mountainview, CA. See http://www.windley.com/events/iiw2006a/announcement.
- Bob is still looking for program committee members for the June workflow CAMP (http://www.educause.edu/camp063). People working on campus projects in this area are especially welcome.
- The Australia CAMP is now tentatively scheduled for sometime in August.
There was a brief discussion of perfSONAR (http://www.perfsonar.net/). There was general agreement that more communication is needed between MACE and the perfSONAR group; MACErs are encouraged to join the discussion at http://www.perfsonar.net/jra1-wiki/index.php/PerfSONAR_Mailing_list.
Bob noted that there's increasing interest in getting support for virtual-organization activities that require secrecy; a Shibbolized wiki is one possibility. [AI] Bob will start a MACE list discussion of privacy-enabling technologies for VOs.
