*Discussion*

Plans for a disaster recovery working group are moving forward, focusing on web and email services. Ken reported that an initial conference call has identified a likely candidate to chair the group. Ken is continuing to pursue this, but it's likely this group won't start up until next year.

Recent meetings:
- Bob attended the recent BRIITE meeting (https://www.briite.org/events/salk-2005.php). BIRN (http://www.nbirn.net/) was prominent; one key to their success has been providing racks of gear to run their software. Also, with only 400 users, they have had no need for sophisticated user management.
- Steve Carmody noted that a recent meeting in Copenhagen included tracks on federations policy and advanced Shibboleth configuration; he's heard that Shibboleth is gathering support in Denmark. There is also a Microsoft-sponsored meeting in Barcelona this week where Shibboleth will be discussed.
- Bob noted that SAML showed up in some new contexts at IETF, including a draft on a reputation-based approach to using SAML for SPIT reduction (http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-schwartz-sipping-spit-saml-00.txt). Bob also noted that SXIP will soon be put forward for standardization in IETF. An ongoing Bob-initiated discussion of "thoughts on 'identity' and IETF" is at http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/dix/current/.
