http://www.rsaconference.com/2008/US/home.aspx
Scott attended the Concordia conference. It was a good meeting, lots of vendors present and a number of interop issues worked through. SAML 2 interop went well. The Shibboleth SP and several SAML IdPs interoperated well also. There was also an OSIS interop event focused especially on InfoCard.

** Upcoming Meetings**

http://events.internet2.edu/2008/spring-mm/
As always there will be a good selection of middleware-related sessions. The InterFed BoF will start Sunday 7:30 PM, and there will be an International Reception beforehand.

Lucy Lynch (ISOC) will be the guest speaker at the MACE/Salsa dinner Tuesday 22-April. The practice of authenticating to a firewall in order to obtain an open port for a period of time, and whether external credentials would be permitted, to support a particular application was discussed as a potential topic for discussion for future engagement with ISOC. It was noted that there are some VPN services in use that route the user to a particular (e.g. filtered or unfiltered) subnet based upon their credentials and associated privileges.

- Non-web-based AuthN/Z
In addition to Croquet, PerfSonar and Dynamic Circuits (DCN) services are also interested in non-web-based AuthN/Z. The Kerberos Consortium is interested in this topic as well.

Videoconferencing is also of interest to many in R&E. Asynchronous tools need to be integrated into the synchronous tools, as part of this effort.
