Presentations: http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/JCON/St.+Paul+2008+Spring+Conference+Presentation+Materials

Tom, Jens, and Scott attended. There was good discussion about alignment between Internet2 IdM work with Kuali IdM (KIM), with more to come. Also there were discussions between Shibboleth and CAS representatives about potential for alignment in the future. Some vendors were also present, and good connections were made with them as well.

A primary goal of this meeting was improving communication between open-source R&E projects, and that seemed to be accomplished.

There was discussion about the distinction between "community source" and "open source" projects, with community source projects seen as taking a longer view. To a large degree this seems to have more to do with marketing and perception than with any real difference in project direction and structure…

**Discussion**
- Server Certs
Rodney discussed the AAF (Australian Access Federation) efforts in this space (ETA 4Q2008), undergoing a WebTrust audit process, and Leif discussed the similar GeoTrust effort in the EU. Is there a role for a global entity providing server certs in the R&E sector? What international contractual issues might there be, between organizations?

There is some question about whether Microsoft is willing to include a R&E root cert in IE.

Rodney and Jim will follow up with interested MACE members, and include TERENA.

- COmanage and friends/competitors/alternatives, interop etc.
Ken reported on his recent meeting at Stanford about COmanage development, and will be sending notes to the MACE list.
- MACE membership
There was discussion about inviting a new person to join MACE, who is well-known to the community and with a long history with MACE-related projects. Bob will be polling the list for additional nominations, toward discussion on a future MACE call.

- MACE-Dir
Brendan Bellina has been very capably serving as chair while Keith Hazelton is on leave, and will continue to do so on a permanent basis.

- ReFeds
Ken and Leif have been discussing strategies for increasing energy on this with several participants.
