*Discussion*

Recent meetings:
- Scott and Bob attended the initial meeting of the OASIS Web Services Secure Exchange (WS-SX) Technical Committee; minutes are linked from http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=ws-sx. Bob noted that the standards being developed in WS-SX will be included in Microsoft's Identity Metasystem. The group doesn't appear to be interested in delegation.
- Ken noted impressive developments at Macquarie University in Australia, including work on integrating Shibboleth with uPortal and DSpace. A writeup is in the works.

Upcoming meetings:
- CSG is Jan. 3-6 at Duke; see http://www.stonesoup.org/.
- A Signet/Grouper deployment event, including an install-fest, is scheduled for March 21 at USC. The event is supported by EDUCAUSE; Brendan Bellina is hosting.
- The DRM workshop has still not been scheduled, but it will probably take place in May. Ken noted that this event will cover medical-records issues as well as DRM for music and movies.
- October is the likely timeframe for the Australia CAMP; let Bob know if you're interested in going.

Bob noted that the E-Auth "legal suite" has been posted; see http://www.cio.gov/eauthentication/documents/LegalSuite.pdf. The participating universities (Washington, Penn State, and Cornell) are meeting to consider next steps. There will be an update and possibly a demo at the February AuthN CAMP.

Ken noted that there's interest in Australia in helping formulate the MACE Middleware Initiative Plan (MACE-MIP). While the international issues are significant, there is a perception that the US is so big and complicated that any approach that can work here can probably be made to work anywhere. Ken is interested in starting a more general conversation on the issues involved in global software development. Bob is following up on MACE-MIP action items.
